My research has generally related to families facing unique challenges. Most recently, I have focused on families of children with autism spectrum disorders. My research uses a bioecological approach with specific interests in the relative roles of genetics and the environment and the impact of a child with autism on other family members.

However, I teach a variety of courses including, Problem Solving Through Problem Analysis (PSYC-105), Developmental Psychology (PSYC-201), Introduction to Child Development (PSYC/HD-240), Psychology of Human Sexuality (PSYC-301), Parent and Family Relations (PSYC-303), Psychology of Middle Childhood (PSYC-320), Psychology of Adolescent Development (PSYC-328); Cross-Cultural Psychology (PSYC-345), Psychology of Exceptional Children (PSYC-350), History and Systems of Psychology (PSYC-357); Learning and Motivation (PSYC-362), Social and Personality Development (PSYC-384); Psychopathology of Childhood (PSYC-391); Advanced Seminar in Developmental Psychology (PSYC-421), and Advanced Human Development (HD-480).
